Synopsis
In Reunion Island, the Grands-Bois factory was once one of the largest sugar refineries and distilleries on the island. Grands-Bois experienced four decades of golden age (1950-1990). When the factory closed its doors in 1991, time stood still. From then on, the inhabitants crystallized their past around legends. In a succession of portraits, the elders tell this legendary past. In this popular Grands-Bois, it is the history of all the sugar factories on the island and overseas which is part of French working-class history.
