Nathan Clement (2002. Réunion) is a filmmaker and musician from Reunion Island.

He studied cinema in Switzerland at HEAD-Genève, where he made Walk under the trees and Max and the Freaks. In July 2021 he was among eight young talents mentored by Samuel Ross, as part of the Dazed x Converse Open to Change program.

He graduated in 2022 with his diploma film The truth about Alvert, the last Dodo set on his home island.

Synopsis

Une femme créole à la peau blanche porte dans son engagement politique les blessures d’un événement tragique de La Réunion. La nuit, à travers des actes de vandalisme poétiques, elle défend son combat pour l’indépendance de cette île française de l’océan Indien. Sa lutte idéologique n’est pas du goût de son fils, fonctionnaire de police.

Olivier Dejean est né en 1979 dans un petit bout de France dans l’océan Indien. Cette terre s’appelle La Réunion. Il y vit. Il y travaille. Il y mourra probablement. Mais avant cette dernière étape, parce qu’après tout rien ne presse, il se plait à voyager dans des imaginaires qui se nourrissent de l’histoire singulière de cette île. Après de nombreuses années de travail à la radio où il a aiguisé son imaginaire sonore, c’est aujourd’hui par le cinéma qu’il explore les récits de cette société insulaire qui s’est construite dans les vents contraires de l’histoire.

Bonface Wahome Maina is a stop-motion artist from Kenya. He is a self-taught artist who creates captivating works that explore the rich history of his country. Bonface is deeply passionate about Kenyan heritage and often incorporates historical events into his stop-motion creations, blending artistry with cultural narratives seamlessly. His dedication to preserving and showcasing Kenyan history has earned him two prestigious awards from the German Embassy in Kenya and one award from the Alliance Française in Nairobi, all of which recognize his outstanding contributions to the depiction of historical events. Bonface uses his smartphone to capture and edit his works, showcasing the potential of accessible tools in the world of stop-motion art.
