Synopsis
Surya, a young ragpicker, is faced with the prospect of an arranged marriage by her father, who hopes to improve their living conditions. Blending fiction and documentary, the film focuses on a community of ragpickers trying to find their place in the world amid garbage, scorching heat, and forced marriages.

After obtaining a degree in screenwriting from UQAM, Soy-y-Sen MAUMONT decided to return to Réunion, her homeland, to contribute to the emergence of Réunionese cinema, which she deeply believes in. She founded ASMCROI (Association of Screenwriters and Film Professionals of Réunion), which runs film workshops for young people in schools and educational institutions.
The FIFOI aims to highlight the cinematic diversity of our regions.
