Joash Omondi is a Nairobi-based filmmaker driven by a deep love for storytelling. Beyond the titles of writer, editor, and composer, Joash is simply a storyteller at heart, finding inspiration in the everyday nuances of life. After a few years spent directing commercials in the advertising industry in Kenya, Joash embarked on his first narrative project, culminating in the release of his short film “Jua Kali”. The film went on to charm audiences at esteemed festivals like IFFR, Clermont-Ferrand, Showmeshorts, and Tampere Film Festival. The film, honored with Best Short Film awards at Festival de Cine Africano FCAT, SÃO TOMÉ FESTFILM, and Lumière d’Afrique, speaks to Joash’s dedication to sharing narratives that resonate with audiences from diverse backgrounds. For Joash, filmmaking is more about connections than accolades. He finds beauty in capturing stories that reflect the shared human experience and invites viewers to explore the subtle magic found in everyday stories. |
